intro & goals

Ne!Novinite is a satirical media featuring parody news, political satire, humor, and absurd stories from Bulgaria and around the world.

I discovered the website 15 years ago and have been reading it almost every week ever since, which probably says enough about how much I like it.

The goals of the redesign were to modernize the website and maximize its SEO potential.

The author gave us complete creative freedom, which was a prerequisite for turning the project into a banger.

We decided to stick to a classic news website aesthetic, using neutral tones together with Ne!Novinite's signature blue. It was also important to choose a font adapted for Bulgarian Cyrillic, so we went with the great SofiaSans.

My favorite new detail is the year wheel, which randomly picks a year and then a random article from that year. From there, visitors can keep discovering more Ne!Novini from the same year. It's basically a time machine.

Another favorite is the search and filtering system. These are standard features that are expected to work well, but in this case, they turned out perfectly in terms of UX and speed.

Overall, communication was super smooth, which made the whole process easy and enjoyable.
